One of the things we enjoy most about custom cabinetry is finding ways to make every square foot work more efficiently. This kitchen in Woodstock is a great example of that.

The homeowner wanted a space that would be comfortable to use for years to come, with aging in place in mind, but she didn't want to sacrifice character or style. The result is a kitchen that's full of thoughtful details, smart storage, and custom touches that make it feel uniquely hers.

Big Function in an Efficient Space

While the kitchen footprint isn't huge, it has everything needed for everyday living and entertaining.

The main cabinetry is Plato Woodwork's Inovae line in a Dove White painted finish, keeping the space feeling bright and open. To add some warmth, we paired it with a dark-stained cherry island and matching cherry bookcases in the adjoining living room. The contrast between the painted and stained cabinetry gives the whole space a comfortable, timeless feel.

Custom Touches Around Every Corner

One of the most memorable parts of this project is the amount of customization that went into it.

We partnered with Grothouse to incorporate metallic-finished surfaces on the island countertop and backsplash, giving the kitchen a look that's completely unique. They also crafted custom bird inlays for the upper cabinet doors and the range hood—a subtle detail that reflects the homeowner's personality and makes the space feel truly one of a kind.

Around the sink and cooktop, we installed ¾-inch Dekton countertops, providing a durable surface that's built to handle everyday life while blending seamlessly with the rest of the design.

Clean Lines, Hidden Function

One of our favorite features is that many of the hardest-working appliances are almost invisible.

The Sub-Zero refrigerator, freezer, beverage cooler, and the dishwasher are all concealed behind custom Plato wood panels, allowing the cabinetry to remain the focal point instead of the appliances.

Every cabinet door and drawer is finished with solid cast bronze hardware, adding another layer of craftsmanship you can see and feel every time you open them.

Designed to Be Enjoyed for Years to Come

This project is a great reminder that good design isn't always about making a room bigger. Sometimes it's about making the space you have work better.

Between the thoughtful layout, custom Plato Woodwork cabinetry, handcrafted details from Grothouse, durable Dekton surfaces, and integrated Sub-Zero appliances, this kitchen balances beauty with everyday function.

It's a space designed for quiet evenings at home, gatherings with friends, and everything in between—and one we're proud to have been a part of.

If you're planning a kitchen remodel, we'd love to help you create a space that's tailored to your home, your lifestyle, and the way you want to live for years to come.
